POROUS MATTER (particle)
A performance by Anna Anderegg in collaboration with the University of Zurich
What if the human body were never a closed entity, but a porous landscape shared with countless other lifeforms? POROUS MATTER (particle) is the outdoor, touring version of Anna Anderegg's choreographic work POROUS MATTER, developed during a year-long research residency at the Art & Science Office of the University of Zurich in exchange with fourteen scientists from fields including microbiology, palaeontology, and gastroenterology.
Two performers move through public space as shifting, hybrid bodies, from fossil landscapes to monstrous skin to microscopic multiplicity. The audience carries the sound: worn soundbags turn each listener into part of the sonic architecture, with a spoken text that envelops them directly. Against the backdrop of biodiversity loss, the piece offers a quiet, non-spectacular encounter with the entanglement of all living matter, adaptable for both day and night.
POROUS MATTER exists in two versions: this compact 30-minute outdoor version for public space with two performers, and POROUS MATTER, the full-length indoor version with five performers. → [discover POROUS MATTER full-length]
